Card Tricks

The range of tricks a magician can perform is vast, with some requiring a great deal of equipment and props, and others as little as a deck of cards or a few coins. Here are a number of the most popular card tricks -

Trick 1

One card trick that is often considered as being the most difficult in the world, involves two spectators picking a card each from the deck.  The magician then splits the deck and replaces the two cards.  The deck is then closed, and the top card chosen.  The card is thrown into the air, and boomerangs back into the deck.  The magician spreads the deck, showing the top card positioned right in the middle of the two cards previously chosen by the spectators.

Trick 2

The next is a trick that is suitable even for beginners. The magician shuffles the deck and chooses two cards, one red and one black, and places them on the table.  A spectator is then asked to deal the cards one by one, placing them on top of either the red or the black card on the table.  Half-way through, the magician will start two new piles, and the spectator will deal into those. Once all the cards have been dealt, the magician will turn over all four piles, revealing 2 piles of red cards only, and 2 piles of black cards only.

Trick 3

Another trick suitable for beginners begins with the magician shuffling the deck and asking a spectator to choose a card.  The spectator remembers the card and then replaces it in the deck.  The deck is then spread out, and the spectator is asked to extend her hand and point at the spread deck.  The magician holds her wrist, seemingly taking her pulse as her pointed finger is moved over the deck.  Moving back and forward a few times, the magician suddenly stops - at the card chosen by the spectator. All done by reading a pulse!

Trick 4

The next trick starts with the magician selecting a spectator, and then giving them a pair of black aces.  The cards are placed in the spectator's hand, and the magician asks the spectator  where the ace of spades is. The spectator points to one of the two cards in his hand.  It's the ace of diamonds.  The spectator turns over the other card to reveal the ace of hearts.  And the magician is still holding the two black aces.

These are just a few of the countless great card tricks that can be done by magicians of all abilities.
